A SGT-7B prepares for a docking procedure by entering through a VDA (Variable Docking Aperture) at the Uppsala Staging Center in low Earth orbit. Uppsala Staging Center is an important industrial hub serving the northern European and Arctic regions. Artificial gravity for the station is generated by centrifugal motion resulting from the rotation of the station - however, for safety reasons, this rotation needs to be suspended during a docking procedure. The VDA allows ships of various sizes to enter or exit the docking chamber with more efficiency, reducing the need for the station to halt its rotation and minimizing a gravity-less working environment.
